“Her [Teri Gender Bender] combination of force and keen observation is reminiscent of Corin Tucker at her best, though Gender Bender’s performance is all her own.” – NPR

Supai, Ariz., Sept. 18, 2015 – Le Butcherettes, the captivating El Paso-based, Guadalajara-born trio release A Raw Youth today via Ipecac Recordings (physical: http://bit.ly/1JmtaCP; digital: http://hyperurl.co/cfvgxi).

The album, the band’s third release, focuses on “the recurring conflict between minorities (the raw youths) and society: The oppressor and the oppressed” as Le Butcherettes’ mastermind and front woman Teri Gender Bender explains. A pair of singles: “Shave The Pride” (https://youtu.be/0KWDHLjkzdk) and “They F*** You Over” (https://soundcloud.com/ipecacrecordings/they-fuck-you-over) were shared in advance of release.  In what seems to be a theme with Le Butcherettes’ releases, two guest stars also join the fray: Iggy Pop on “La Uva” and John Frusciante on “My Half.” A Raw Youth was recorded at RLP Studios (The Morgue Portable Disaster Unit) in El Paso with producer Omar Rodriguez Lopez.

Le Butcherettes spent the summer touring with the Melvins on the Chaos as Usual tour; a pairing that was deemed “a spiritual kinship” (Consequence of Sound), “incredibly eclectic” (Phoenix New Times) and “an absolute blast” (Dallas Observer). The bill birthed one tour only 10-inch and dozens of videos of Gender Bender fronting the Melvins for a cover of Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl” (https://youtu.be/wprzoG9eZnU).
