London-based indie rock/synth-pop band Secret Cameras is going places with its moodily stirring debut single.

London-based indie rock/synth-pop band Secret Cameras is slated to release its moody and intriguing debut EP in 2017, but in the meantime the recently-formed act is bowing the rousing lead single “Going Places” at the end of this week.

While Secret Cameras may be relatively fresh on the music scene, its members Itamar (vocals, guitars, synths), Kristian (guitars, synths, backing vocals), Sam (bass), and Dimitris (drums) are all veterans of the industry who have been involved in other musical projects and have performed around the UK and US.  They bring their combined talents to Secret Cameras, blending the sharp, noir mood of post-punk with the restless, wiry guitar lines of indie rock and melodic song structures of indie pop.

The upcoming EP was produced by Fraser Smith (Shed Seven) and mixed by Dave Bascombe (Depeche Mode, Suede, Placebo) and its compositions and overall atmosphere are reminiscent of the British bands that Smith and Bascombe have previously worked with.

“Going Places” simmers defiantly with a strutting drum beat, sizzling synths, and a looping electric guitar line.  Itamar, who sounds like a cross between a mellowed out Brett Anderson and Brian Molko (without the nasal inflection), exclaims with sweeping ardor about, “…going places / Going somewhere new / What do you want to do?”

Secret Cameras is definitely going places with its throwback (‘90s-to-Noughties) British, alternative rock sound, Itamar’s brooding and flowing vocals, and involving lyrics.  Keep an ear out for the debut EP in the New Year!
