The Norwegian punk/rock firebrand is back on the attack with a wild deepfake music video for an anthemic track.

Norwegian punk/rock powerhouse Ida Maria has returned to the fray with the blasting new anthem “Sick Of You.” She wickedly comments, Ignite the sage… Let’s burn the bad, keep the good, [and] hide your virgins - I’m back.”

She’s also unleashing its wild accompanying music video that was created by Santiago D.A., a fervent fan of hers, who used deepfake tech in the clip.

The single and video are tasters for an upcoming EP release that will contain 5 rip-roaring new tunes.

Ida Maria made a name for herself over a decade ago as a really young rock ‘n’ roll upstart backed by a major label and releasing a string of hits that came off her debut album, 2008’s Fortress 'Round My Heart.

After some time away from the music realm, she’s back in full force, taking a big swing at those who raise her ire, and situations that piss her off. It’s a feel that we’ve all felt this past year especially during the pandemic.

Ida Maria has grappled with the pressures and preconceived notions of working in the music industry, and has released four albums so far. She has since been distancing herself from the business and is only making music where she’s 100% in control of the output. “Sick Of You” is an example of her newer method of production.

Rebel Noise is stoked to host the U.S. premiere of music video for “Sick Of You” in all its tech-unsettling MO.

In the clip, Santiago D.A. has created a parade of renowned women in the entertainment arena and replaced their faces with Ida Maria’s visage. The deepfake imagery is deeply disconcerting from the technological standpoint where you don't know if what you’re viewing is ‘real’ or not.

But this video is also exhilarating to the max and jam-packed with pop culture references that’ll make your eyes and head spin like a slot machine.

Movie and music video reference fly fast ‘n’ furious ‘n’ fun on the ferociously catchy number. Sure, vintage icons like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn are represented, but also brief cheeky blips of Emilia Clarke as Daenerys in Game of Thrones, Uma Thurman in Kill Bill, Angelina Jolie in Gia, Monica Bellucci in Malena, and a slew of pop stars including Madonna, Bjork, Gwen Stefani, Kyle Minogue, and Lana Del Rey in their music videos.

See how many references you can pick up on in the video clip!
