Canadian skatepunk lifers CURBSIDE are crashing back into the scene with A Lifetime To Outgrow, their first full-length album since 2012, dropping August 8 through Thousand Islands Records (with European support from Bearded Punk Records). Alongside the announcement, the band has released a blistering new single, “We Were The Thieves,” now available on all streaming platforms.
The track is a hard-charged, emotionally raw anthem that tears through memories of lost youth and broken bonds with open-hearted precision. Gritty vocals, driving guitars, and a chorus that aches with what-could-have-beens - this is the kind of song that refuses to fade quietly into the past.
Formed in the frozen corners of Canada, CURBSIDE cut their teeth on DIY stages and basement shows, growing up with punk in their bloodstream. Now older, sharper, but still wired to explode, they’ve funneled years of experience into A Lifetime To Outgrow - a record that’s as melodic as it is merciless, grappling with growing pains and loyalty without ever slowing down. This release channels years of experience into sharp songwriting and tight execution.
The album was recorded and produced by frontman Pat Dietrich, with mixing and mastering by John Harcus. It also features original artwork from Jason Cruz of Strung Out, with layout and design by Dietrich himself - a nod to the band’s deep roots and relentless DIY ethic. Longtime fans also have more to celebrate: CURBSIDE’s 2012 debut album The Sound I Know is being reissued on vinyl for the first time, a fitting way to honor the past while blazing toward the future.
Recommended for fans of Bodyjar, No Use For A Name, Strung Out, and Hangnail. CURBSIDE have spent decades flying the flag for melodic punk, building their name on DIY grit and breakneck hooks. From basements to major festival slots, they’ve stayed loyal to the scene - and to each other.
