Brazilian experimental punk artist MONCHMONCH will release his sci-fi-inspired, noise-filled new album MARTEMORTE on June 17, blending punk with Brazilian sounds and sharp social commentary, accompanied by a comic book and vinyl-exclusive tracks.

Brazilian experimental punk artist MONCHMONCH will release his new album MARTEMORTE on June 17 through the Portuguese label Saliva Diva and Seloki Records. The album sounds like a wild sci-fi world full of noise and sharp ideas. It imagines a future where billionaires move to Mars and watch Earth fall apart without helping; sometimes even making things worse.

The album was first planned as a relaxed EP, but it evolved over time into a full LP-length story. It was recorded across Brazil and Portugal, with MONCHMONCH building two different bands in each country. While living in Portugal in 2024, he played over 20 shows and made new tracks with members of bands like Baleia Baleia Baleia, Marquise, and Conferência Inferno.

Some of the songs include “CITY BUNDA,” which gives a messy view of São Paulo, and “VELHOS BRANCOS VELHOS CAREQUINHAS,” which talks about the hard life of immigrants. One of the main songs, the raucous “JEFF BEZOS PAGA UM PÃO DE QUEIJO,” uses a popular Brazilian snack as a symbol for greed and power.

The music mixes punk with Brazilian instruments, harsh noise, and strange rhythms. MONCHMONCH’s name comes from a comic book sound effect—like someone loudly chewing—which fits his noisy, wild style. His sound is inspired by bands like Viagra Boys and Tom Zé, and his live shows are known for being raw and full of energy.

MARTEMORTE will also come with a comic book that shows pictures based on the album’s nine songs. Many artists worked on it, including Bia Oliveira and Alice Rocha. For fans who like physical music, a vinyl version is coming too, which will include a B-side that will not be available on streaming.

With this new release, MONCHMONCH he continues his path as one of the most unique voices in Brazil’s noisy, bold punk scene.
