After a long break, Parts & Labor are set to return with Set of All Sets, their first new album in 15 years. The record is scheduled for release on July 10 through Ernest Jenning Record Co., marking the band’s first full project since 2011. Known for their raw mix of noise, melody, and rhythm, the group now reappears with a larger lineup and a more complex sound.
The upcoming album runs for 79 minutes and leans into a maximalist style. It blends loud electronics, driving percussion, and bright melodic lines into something that feels both chaotic and carefully shaped. The band now performs as a four-piece, adding a second drummer to expand their rhythmic range. This dual-drum setup gives the music a fast, layered pulse that shifts between steady grooves and sharp bursts of energy.
Leading the release is “Endless Cycle Pts. 1 - 4,” a multi-part single that introduces the album’s structure. The suite spans four songs and acts as a framework for the record’s two halves. Built on repeating patterns and evolving sections, the track shows how the band uses loops and contrast to create motion without losing focus.
Set of All Sets continues the group’s mix of noise and pop, but pushes it further. The arrangements are denser, with more detail in both the electronics and percussion. At the same time, the melodies remain clear and strong, giving the songs a sense of shape within the layered sound.
Lyrically, the album looks at big ideas like time, repetition, and uncertainty. The themes connect to modern life, where progress can feel unclear and overwhelming. The band uses these ideas to build a record that feels both urgent and reflective.
Parts & Labor first made their mark in the early 2000s underground scene, known for loud shows and a DIY approach. Their return comes after years of change, both for the band and the music world around them. Even with that gap, Set of All Sets does not feel like a step back. Instead, it presents a band building something new from its original core.
With its wide scope and layered sound, Set of All Sets signals a strong return. The album is not out yet, but it already points to a bold new chapter for the band.
