Atlanta and Asheville rock outfit set May 13 release for new LP via Godless America.

Atlanta and Asheville-based rock band Tongues Of Fire have announced their upcoming self-titled sophomore album, due out May 13 through Godless America. The record arrives alongside the release of the band’s new single and video, “Superficial,” which offers the first major preview of the forthcoming LP.

The track delivers a surge of jagged guitars and bruising drums, with vocalist and guitarist Lowell Hobbs channeling frustration and restlessness into the band’s signature raw, high-voltage sound. “Superficial” captures the uneasy tension that fuels much of Tongues Of Fire’s new material, wrestling with the pressures of modern life and the endless churn of surface-level media.

The new album also features remastered versions of four singles the band released following their Burn Your Body Clean EP, tying together recent work into a cohesive full-length statement. Rather than offering easy answers, the record focuses on documenting the emotional turbulence of simply trying to stay afloat in a chaotic world.

Hobbs describes the record as a reflection of a shared experience rather than a solution to it, noting that the album grapples with the challenge of maintaining sanity and authenticity amid constant distraction. The band instead channels that tension directly into their music, building songs from lived frustrations and the realities of working independently within the underground rock scene.

The video for “Superficial” leans into that DIY spirit. Packed with scenes from chaotic house shows, fleeting venues, and touring setbacks, the clip captures the scrappy, unpredictable energy that defines grassroots music communities. It’s a snapshot of bands and spaces that often exist only briefly but leave a lasting mark.

Tongues Of Fire split their time between Atlanta, Georgia and Asheville, North Carolina, steadily building momentum through relentless touring and a reputation for ferocious live performances. The band has previously opened for acts including Modest Mouse, Bass Drum Of Death, Teen Mortgage, and Ceremony.

To celebrate the release of the new single, Tongues Of Fire hosted a “Superficial” release show at Atlanta’s Star Bar on February 27, with additional tour dates expected to follow as the band prepares for the album’s May arrival.

With their self-titled record on the horizon, Tongues Of Fire continue to sharpen their raw, unfiltered approach — turning frustration, noise, and restless energy into a loud and unapologetic document of life inside the modern underground.
