The Dreaded Laramie return with their new single “Agency,” a high-energy track that explores the tension between freedom and responsibility, ahead of their SXSW debut and upcoming tour dates.

Nashville’s power-pop and punk-influenced quartet The Dreaded Laramie are back with their latest single, "Agency," released via Smartpunk Records. This marks their first new music since their 2024 debut album, Princess Feedback. Known for their energetic sound and sharp songwriting, the band continues to push their sound in exciting directions.

"Agency" explores the tension between freedom and responsibility. Vocalist and guitarist MC Cunningham delivers lyrics that wrestle with both the excitement and fear that come with shaping one's own future. The band’s signature bright guitars and infectious melodies remain at the core, but this time, the volume is cranked even higher. A standout moment in the track comes with its intricate, key-shifting dual guitar solo—an electrifying addition that highlights the band's growth.

Once again, The Dreaded Laramie teamed up with producer Dave Schiffman, whose past work with PUP and Bayside brings an edge to the track’s polished yet urgent feel. The song comes from recent recording sessions inspired by the band’s extensive touring schedule, which has seen them share the stage with Rozwell Kid, Teens In Trouble, and Rodeo Boys. Their live experience has clearly sharpened their approach, adding an extra layer of confidence and intensity to their recordings.

Following the release of Princess Feedback, The Dreaded Laramie have earned praise for their ability to blend punchy hooks with dynamic arrangements. Outlets like Under the Radar and Punk News have recognized their ability to fuse indie punk energy with soaring pop melodies, and "Agency" continues that tradition while exploring new sonic territory.

The Dreaded Laramie will make their SXSW debut in March, with additional tour stops leading up to the festival. In April, they’ll hit the road again for a run of dates with Brett Newski. Fans can expect a live show that captures the same mix of emotional weight and high-energy musicianship found in their recordings.

With "Agency," The Dreaded Laramie prove they’re not just repeating past successes—they’re evolving. Their music remains direct and engaging, but their willingness to experiment makes them one of the most compelling rising bands in indie punk today.
