Seattle’s The Rat Utopia Experiment have released their new single “BLAST!,” a 2 minute and 1 second burst of punk intensity that wastes no time getting loud. The track hit digital platforms on February 7 and is available now as a self-released single.
“BLAST!” leans into the band’s mix of alt-rock, heavy alternative, post-grunge, and punk. Gritty fuzzed-out guitars drive the song forward while punchy drums keep the tempo tight and urgent. The vocals come in animated and forceful, turning the chorus into a raw sing-along that feels built for packed rooms and sweaty floors.
The Rat Utopia Experiment, also known as T.R.U.E, features Phia on vocals, Francis on bass, Maddox and Casey on guitars, and Evan on drums. The five-piece pulls members from across the Pacific Northwest, with roots in Bellingham, Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia. Their sound blends garage grit with a heavy alternative edge, balancing defiance and melody in equal measure.
Though “BLAST!” clocks in just over two minutes, it delivers a full punch. The song carries riot punk energy while keeping its hooks sharp and direct. It’s fast, loud, and unapologetic, with a tone that feels both scrappy and deliberate.
The band has been steadily building momentum in the Northwest scene. They performed in SoundOff! 2024, a major 21-and-under music showcase in the region. They’ve also been named KISW 99.9’s Loud and Local Band of the Week, received airplay on KEXP and KISW, and are currently featured in a Puget Sound Energy commercial.
The Rat Utopia Experiment recently played live on February 14 at Real Art Tacoma, and have more dates later this spring at Treefort Music Fest in Boise from March 25 to 29.
With “BLAST!” now out, T.R.U.E double down on their raw punk drive, delivering a frantic, fuzz-heavy anthem that hits hard and leaves no room to breathe.
