I am Mango In Euphoria, a French ethereal punk performer, singer-songwriter based in London.
What have you been up to this year & what can we expect in the coming months ?
I have been playing many shows, and played for the first time up north in Sheffield and Manchester at the beginning of the year. I'm releasing a collaboration with Princess Stephen from Arch Femmesis this summer called "MISSION", it's a Eurodance song we wrote two years ago. Then I will be releasing my first EP ever, called "LETHAL LUST" which is a name chosen to describe a fatal attraction to human beings, that can cause insanity when love and lust are mixed together. It's going to be both a goth pop, industrial and synth rock project.
What are your thoughts on AI and its effect on the music industry?
I'm personally not really scared of AI when it comes to the industry. I think everything creative made with AI does show a lot - it feels soulless, and you can spot it's not really... real. I think I see this as something wonderful in terms of "Great, I can show my individuality even more now, because I will never be something that AI can create". AI simply helps me when I need help on something urgent and quick. I'm not relying on it for anything musically related.
Is streaming a good or bad thing?
Well I think streaming is bad for artists, it doesn't bring us anything at all for sure - but I do personally stream a lot and I think it's just a matter of money really. I never had enough money to buy all the records I wanted personally, physical copies or online, so I can understand it from a fanbase point of view - when you just have to spend a few quids per month to get a very wide choice of music non stop in your ears, you don't really look further away. If you have the budget to buy records, that's good, do it. I just wish streaming would give the artists more money.
If you could play with any musician, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
I'm gonna say something that just popped in my mind: George Michael - idk, I feel like I could have danced with him on stage and that would have been fun. He seemed to not be a walking red flag either and a genuine unproblematic person, so I'm picking George this time around, haha.
What are your 3 favourite moments in your career?
I don't think I can list my three favourite moments in my carreer because I feel like they didn't happen yet. Playing a festival last year in Seattle was a big vibe, but I also got in trouble by misbehaving and following my lust. I mean, I didn't do anything really bad, people just got mad because I did what the hell I wanted, that's the truth. And I took too much drugs as well. But it was good, I loved the crowd and I will be back.
I think I am entering a great chapter in my life now, I am able to record my songs so I'm feeling good. One of the songs is called Seattle so...
Who should we be listening to?
Sun Brutal Pop. Such a talented woman, I currently have her in my ears right now.
What can save our venues?
People coming to grassroot shows can save the venues, but in this economy, everyone is broke and everyone who has money is being led to buy mainstream acts tickets that are minimum £200. I don't think I have the answer, people just need to start believing in organic acts.
Where is your favourite venue?
My favourtie venue is the Shacklewell Arms, the sound is great, and I did my first sold out show there. Also the green room is so beautiful to me. I also love the sound at the Windmill in Brixton and the George Tavern.
