Britain’s babes “The Slits” will be releasing their first full-length album in over 25 years.

Trapped Animal is scheduled for an October 6 release via Narnack Records. 2009 will be a big year for the band, as it also commemorates the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Cut, which was released on Island Records.

The seminal, female-fronted punk band, who are known for their brash mixture of punk and reggae sounds, is currently led by original members Ari Up and Teresa Pollitt. On Trapped Animal, they are joined by Anna Schlute, Adele Wilson and Hollie Cook, who has punk pedigree as the daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook. The first single from the Slits' forthcoming album, "Ask Ma," will be out in August.

In addition to the new album, Zoe Street Howe's book on the band, Typical Girls? The Story Of The Slits, is also scheduled for release this fall.
