Swiss noise-rock collective Coilguns have released “Carbon Magic,” the latest single from their upcoming album, which is set to arrive later this year through Humus Records. The track follows the recent release of “Peace Trader” and arrives alongside an official music video directed by Louis Jucker.
Known for blending abrasive noise-rock with post-hardcore intensity, Coilguns continue to push their sound forward with “Carbon Magic.” The new song combines jagged guitars, driving rhythms, and tense dynamics while delivering a pointed message about environmental responsibility.
The track examines the growing practice of exporting carbon emissions to other countries rather than reducing them at the source. Inspired by ongoing debates in Switzerland, the band questions systems that move environmental costs out of sight while allowing the appearance of sustainability to continue unchecked.
Filmed and edited by Valentin Lurthy, the video captures the group's energetic live presence while reinforcing the song's central themes. The visual presentation mirrors the track's urgency, pairing stark imagery with the band's relentless performance style.
“Carbon Magic” was recorded by Scott Evans, whose previous work includes projects with Neurosis, Thrice, and La Dispute. Additional production came from Ben Chisholm, known for his work with Chelsea Wolfe and The Armed, while Tom Dalgety handled mixing duties following his collaborations with Ghost, Pixies, and Royal Blood.
Despite working with a high-profile production team, Coilguns maintain the raw and direct approach that has defined the band throughout its career. Their ability to combine chaotic energy with sharp social commentary continues to set them apart within the modern heavy music landscape.
To support the release, Coilguns will embark on a European tour this November and December, with dates scheduled across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland. The run will conclude with a special hometown show at Le Romandie in Lausanne on December 12, marking the band's only Swiss performance of the tour.
