Exclusive Os Cabides Release New EP Feliz e triste ao mesmo tempo Reviewed by Sam Lowry

The Brazilian indie rock band channels the energy of a year spent touring into a fast-moving new seven-song release.

Brazilian indie rock band Exclusive Os Cabides has released its new EP, Feliz e triste ao mesmo tempo, a seven-track collection that captures the momentum and chemistry the group built while touring throughout the past year. Formed in Florianópolis, the coastal city in southern Brazil that continues to shape the band's identity, Exclusive Os Cabides use the new release to lean further into a more energetic and rock-focused sound.

Created after an extensive run of live performances supporting their acclaimed album Coisas Estranhas, the EP reflects the band's desire to bring the intensity of their concerts into the studio. The result is a collection of songs driven by lively rhythms, sharp guitar work, and dynamic arrangements designed to keep listeners engaged from start to finish.

Recorded during the Brazilian summer at Ouié Studio in Praia da Armação, the project was co-produced by guitarist Eduardo Possa and producer Paulo Costa Franco, who also handled mixing and mastering duties. The band returned to the same studio where they previously recorded Roubaram Tudo and Coisas Estranhas, building on a creative partnership that has helped define their sound in recent years.

The EP features seven tracks: "Bicicleta," "Gato Chinês," "Fazer Qualquer Coisa Hoje," "Castelos de Areia," "Gaita em Formato de Trem," "Espirros Infinitos," and "Notlin vs. Smelectron." While each song brings its own personality, the release maintains a cohesive identity rooted in indie rock, Brazilian musical influences, and the band's playful creative spirit.

The artwork for Feliz e triste ao mesmo tempo was developed through a collaborative process that began with sketches by vocalist and guitarist João Paulo Pretto before being finalized digitally by Gustavo Ramires. Visual elements such as embroidery, denim textures, stitching, and flannel-inspired patterns connect the artwork to the band's broader creative world, including its distinctive merchandise designs.

Exclusive Os Cabides have steadily become one of Brazil's most notable independent rock acts. Following the success of Coisas Estranhas, which appeared on numerous year-end lists and helped expand the band's audience, the group continues its upward trajectory with a release that highlights both its musical growth and strong sense of identity.
