Pressure Set have officially introduced themselves with the release of their debut single, "Blood Gimmick," while also announcing their upcoming self-titled album. The record is set to arrive later this year through Dr. Strange Records, giving punk fans their first full look at a new project featuring experienced musicians from several well-known bands.
The lineup includes vocalist Daryl Wilson of The Bollweevils, guitarist Dom Brining of Bear Away, drummer Rob Burleson of SPELLS, and bassist Simon Lamb of Methadones and Sludgeworth. Although each member comes from a different background, the group quickly found common ground through a shared love of fast, melodic punk rock.
Pressure Set first came together after a chance meeting during FEST 22 in Gainesville, Florida, in October 2024. The project began when Brining shared a collection of demos with Burleson. Recording started almost immediately, and Wilson soon added vocals to the early tracks. As the songs continued to develop, the band officially took shape before Lamb completed the lineup.
Unlike many traditional bands, Pressure Set created much of their music remotely. Members recorded ideas on their own before sending them to each other, allowing every part to be carefully reviewed and improved throughout the writing process. The approach helped shape the band's energetic sound while giving each musician time to focus on what worked best for every song.
"Blood Gimmick" delivers a direct message about moving beyond empty routines and choosing honesty over shallow actions. The lyrics encourage listeners to stop hiding behind appearances and instead focus on making choices that carry real meaning.
Musically, the single delivers sharp guitars, driving rhythms, and high-energy performances that reflect the members' longtime roots in punk. It also serves as the first preview of the band's self-titled debut album, which is expected to arrive in early fall. Additional singles are planned ahead of the album's release.
Pressure Set will also bring their new material to the stage with an appearance at FEST in Gainesville, Florida, this October, giving fans an early chance to experience the band's debut songs in a live setting.
