Wine Lips have returned with TV Dinner, their fifth full-length album and another fuzz-soaked collision of garage punk, psychedelia and frantic rock ’n’ roll, out now through Stomp Records.
Across 13 tracks, the Toronto band turns its attention toward the increasingly strange experience of simply existing in 2026. Rising rent, endless notifications, social media, addiction, wellness culture and the hunt for quick dopamine all become fuel for songs that are anxious without losing the band’s sense of humor.
“Cut It” tackles the constant search for another hit of satisfaction, whether through nicotine, shopping or something else. “Thirst Trap” dives into algorithm-driven brain rot, while “Trip to the Doctor” takes aim at the confusing flood of wellness advice, conspiracy theories and miracle cures competing for attention.
Elsewhere, “Semi Detached Furnished Home” transforms the increasingly distant dream of affordable housing into a garage-rock anthem. “If You Don’t Know” turns inward, confronting aging and the uncomfortable realization that the world keeps moving whether you feel ready or not.
Recorded with longtime collaborator Simon Larochette at The Sugar Shack in London, Ontario, TV Dinner deliberately keeps some dirt under its fingernails. Mistakes, unusual sounds and happy accidents were allowed to remain, favoring personality and momentum over spotless production. Aurora Evans also takes lead vocals on “Projector.”
That roughness suits a band that has built its reputation through relentless touring and a catalog that has accumulated more than 50 million Spotify streams. Yet TV Dinner is less interested in escaping the chaos surrounding Wine Lips than finding something funny, loud and cathartic inside it.
Sometimes modern life is ridiculous. Wine Lips have made 35 minutes of fuzzed-out rock ’n’ roll for screaming along with it.
