UK post-hardcore band Ruled By Raptors have released their new single “Algebra (I’m On A Rage),” accompanied by an official music video. The track previews the group’s forthcoming eight-track mini-album, A Shadow That Never Moves, arriving October 2.

Formed in 2019, the quartet of Chris Bradley on vocals and guitar, Matt Dewar on guitar and vocals, Nick Oliver on bass and vocals, and Will Robson on drums have developed a muscular sound that bridges post-hardcore intensity with progressive flourishes and strong melodic instincts. “Algebra (I’m On A Rage)” pushes that formula outward, pairing forceful riffs and a tightly wound rhythmic attack with soaring vocals and a restless sense of momentum.

The new material represents an extended creative process for the band. Initially envisioned as a quicker follow-up to their previous work, the project grew into an eight-song collection following recording sessions with Sam Cook in late 2023. After circumstances forced the group to put the record temporarily on hold, they eventually returned to complete it, with Dewar handling the mix and Bob Cooper mastering.

That longer gestation appears to have given Ruled By Raptors room to broaden their attack without abandoning its core. With touchstones including Enter Shikari, Reuben and Deftones, their music moves between abrasion and atmosphere rather than treating heaviness and melody as opposing forces. “Algebra (I’m On A Rage)” captures that balance particularly well, sounding volatile and immediate while pointing toward the larger scope of the upcoming record.

Ruled By Raptors have also built their reputation onstage, appearing at Slam Dunk and Bloodstock and earning support from Kerrang! Radio and BBC Introducing.
