Brazilian post-punk band Baco Doente will release their emotionally charged new single “Beleza Estranha” on July 24, blending raw noise-rock with ultra-romantic lyricism and regional Brazilian influences as a bold preview of their upcoming album Amarelo Ocre.

Post-punk outfit Baco Doente will release their latest single “Beleza Estranha” on July 24, offering a bold and emotional new glimpse into their upcoming album Amarelo Ocre, due later this year. Based in Juiz de Fora, Brazil, Baco Doente was formed in 2018 by Walner Del’Duca and Frederico Arruda. Their music blends post-punk grit, garage rock energy, and psychedelic undertones with noise-rock experimentation. Their 2019 debut album delivered eight tracks of atmospheric chaos, built around heavy distortion, vintage tones, and late-night introspection.

Their new single “Beleza Estranha” continues that spirit but adds a distinctly Brazilian lens. Written by Del’Duca, the track is inspired by ultra-romanticism, a Brazilian literary movement known for its focus on melancholy, exaggerated emotion, and the idealization of love. The result is a song that sounds both intense and strangely sweet: its sharp guitars and raw vocals cut through a fog of sentimental dread.

Musically, the track opens with a snappy, distorted pulse before expanding into a textured and emotional sonic landscape. The lyrics take on a reflective tone, viewing life in fragments: finding fleeting beauty in sorrow, calm in chaos. While the band’s roots remain in post-punk and garage, their upcoming album Amarelo Ocre signals a clear shift. While still aggressive and emotionally raw, the new material leans into more regional sounds and textures, incorporating Portuguese lyrics and rhythms from Brazilian music traditions. This marks the band’s most cohesive and culturally specific work to date.

Following 2021’s Love is Purple EP - a twisted tribute to psychedelic rock excess - Beleza Estranha feels like the next logical step: darker, sharper, and more focused. The band stays true to their foundation while embracing a broader and more nuanced sonic identity. With “Beleza Estranha”, Baco Doente invites listeners into a space where the heavy and the delicate coexist. It’s a noisy, poetic reflection on love, sadness, and beauty in its strangest form.

“Beleza Estranha” is out everywhere July 24. And stay tuned: Amarelo Ocre is on the horizon.
