Sydney hardcore veterans No Apologies unleash the crushing new single “Grief,” featuring Jem Siow of Speed, from their long-awaited album Life, out August 29 on Last Ride Records.

No Apologies have re-emerged with force, dropping “Grief,” the third single from their upcoming album Life. The track arrives with a punishing new video featuring Jem Siow of Speed and premiered this week via Decibel Magazine, who called it “a hard-hitting, mid-tempo chugger that even manages to find its way into a stoner metal groove in the solo section.”

Life is the band’s first full-length since their 2007 underground classic Survival, a record that carved out their reputation in Australian hardcore. Nearly two decades later, No Apologies return with a sound that reflects both their roots and their growth. The songs are heavier, the grooves sharper, and the atmosphere more emotionally charged, blending hardcore aggression with a weight that feels lived-in and deeply personal.

“Grief” captures that spirit directly. Its thick guitars and thunderous rhythm section set the stage for a track that wrestles with the crushing realities of loss. Rather than relying on speed alone, the band slows the pace to let the riffs land with full impact, creating a track that is as physical as it is emotional. The addition of Jem Siow’s commanding guest spot ties today’s hardcore wave to a band that helped shape the scene years ago, bridging generations of heavy music in Sydney.

Across Life, No Apologies dig deep. Produced by the core duo of Pete Abordi and Peter Bursky (also of Sumeru) alongside Andres Hyde on drums, Chris Wilson on guitar, and Patrick Taylor on bass, the record brings together nearly 20 years of chemistry. Guest appearances from Jem Siow and Todd Jones (Nails, Terror) only add to the urgency. With blistering riffs, groove-drenched solos, and a raw emotional center, Life positions itself as both a return and a reinvention.

Following singles “Life” and “Illness,” “Grief” cements the album’s direction: uncompromising, heavy, and unafraid to carry emotional weight. Pre-orders for Life are available now through Last Ride Records, with the album dropping August 29.
