Charlottetown indie rock trio Absolute Losers return with the shimmering and nostalgic single “At The Same Time,” the first look at their upcoming album In The Crowd, due September 26 via Having Fun Records.

Charlottetown indie rock trio Absolute Losers are set to release their new album In The Crowd on September 26, 2025 via Having Fun Records, a fresh imprint from Toronto label We Are Busy Bodies. Ahead of the full-length, the band has shared the first single “At The Same Time,” out August 19.

The group recorded the album in Toronto with producer Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck at Palace Sound. Known for his work in experimental and high-energy projects, Walsh pushed the band toward a sound that is both sharper and more expansive. Compared to their 2023 debut At The Mall—a record built in a basement during lockdown with a lo-fi and scrappy edge—the new material is bigger in scope and sound. Walsh not only produced but also engineered and mixed, helping the trio shape a record that feels more direct, emotionally open, and built for volume.

“At The Same Time” makes this new direction clear. Driven by pulsing synth-bass textures, layered guitar lines, and expressive vocal work, the single mixes power pop brightness with lyrical themes of memory, nostalgia, and loss. Its fuzzy hooks and dynamic shifts nod to 90s Canadian rock staples like Sloan, Super Friendz, and Thrush Hermit while carving out a voice that is uniquely the band’s own.

Bassist and vocalist Sam Langille drew inspiration from summers spent at his grandparents’ cottage in Flat River, Prince Edward Island. Along with his brother and guitarist Josh Langille, those early years were filled with fishing trips, digging for worms, and listening to family stories about a post-war boat-building town. The song reflects the magic of that time, but also the ache of remembering loved ones who have passed. “Even though I’ve outgrown that part of life, I know my family still cheers me on,” Sam explains. “The cheering is just more felt than shouted.”

In The Crowd will be supported by a run of Canadian tour dates in August, leading into a special headline performance at The Strongroom Bar in London on September 16. “At The Same Time” is available on all streaming platforms now. Check it out on YouTube below.
