The cumbia-punk project continues the momentum of their debut album Brilla Brilla with a fiery new visual.

Seattle cumbia-punk duo Lucha Luna are keeping the momentum rolling after the recent release of their debut album Brilla Brilla. The group has now unveiled a lyric video for the track “Manzana Prohibida,” giving one of the record’s most explosive moments a new visual presence.

Released independently, Brilla Brilla blends Latin rhythms with punk urgency and electronic production. The project pairs producer and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Arndt’s pulsing synths and deep 808 bass with vocalist Eva Vazquez’s dynamic delivery. Vazquez moves fluidly between reggaeton-inspired flows and raw punk screams, creating a sound that feels both dancefloor-ready and confrontational.

“Manzana Prohibida,” which translates to “Forbidden Apple,” captures the duo’s hybrid approach. The track rides a fast, rhythm-heavy beat while layers of synths and percussion push the energy forward. The lyric video highlights the song’s themes while emphasizing the bilingual intensity that runs throughout the album.

The band celebrated the release of Brilla Brilla with a packed launch show at Baba Yaga in Seattle alongside local artists Bloqueador Solar, Kataniica, and DJ La Mala Noche. The performance marked the beginning of a strong run for the duo, who quickly gained traction in the local and international underground music scene.

Within its first week of release, Brilla Brilla reached the number one spot on KEXP’s Top Played Artists list and appeared on dozens of NACC charts across the United States. The album has also begun reaching listeners far beyond Seattle, with growing audiences across Europe and South America.

Further recognition has come from outlets and curators including the Trial and Error Collective, Sounds of Saving playlists, STG Presents, and multiple KEXP programs such as “New Music Tuesday,” “In Our Headphones,” and “International Clash Day,” along with “A New Latin World” on Radio Free Brooklyn.

With Brilla Brilla still gaining attention and the “Manzana Prohibida” lyric video now out, Lucha Luna continue to push their fusion of digital cumbia, reggaeton rhythms, and punk energy into new territory.
