Seattle punk outfit SUX have released their new single “Static,” the latest preview from their forthcoming album SUX SELLS, due March 27 via Youth Riot Records.
“Static” marks the second single from the record and arrives as a slightly different turn for the band. Known for their chaotic humor and high-energy punk approach, SUX describe the song as the first truly serious track they’ve written, even if their trademark irreverence still lingers beneath the surface.
Musically, the track charges forward with sharp stop-start guitar riffs and gritty garage-rock distortion. Fuzzy bass anchors the rhythm while defiant vocals push through the mix with bratty confidence. Nimble guitar lines twist through the arrangement before exploding into a brief tremolo-driven solo that drives the song into its final chorus.
The result sits comfortably within the band’s scrappy mix of punk, garage rock, and noise rock. “Static” keeps the raw edge intact while showing a slightly more focused songwriting approach, hinting at a broader palette for SUX SELLS.
SUX have built a reputation around relentless live energy and tongue-in-cheek bravado, drawing comparisons to acts like Amyl and the Sniffers, Mommy Long Legs, Die Spitz, The Paranoyds, and L7. Their sound thrives on distortion, attitude, and just enough chaos to keep things unpredictable.
The band will celebrate the release of SUX SELLS with a hometown album release show on March 27 at Add-a-Ball in Seattle. Additional Northwest dates follow in Seattle, Tacoma, and Missoula throughout April.
With “Static” now out and SUX SELLS on the way, SUX continue pushing their loud, messy brand of punk forward — equal parts humor, distortion, and barely controlled noise.
