Skeetch Tap Punk Nostalgia on Anthemic New Single “Born 2 Late” Skeetch

Leipzig skate‑punk crew Skeetch rip through nostalgia on “Born 2 Late,” a breakneck love letter to punk’s golden era and a rallying cry for anyone who found it too late to catch the basement shows.

Leipzig skate‑punk crew Skeetch are revving up for the release of their debut album Sunny Side of Shitty Town with a new single, “Born 2 Late,” out July 18 via Punkerton Records. The track channels bittersweet nostalgia into a high‑energy anthem that salutes punk’s golden era while carving out space for a new generation of misfits.

“Born 2 Late” is a love letter to the bands that shaped Skeetch’s formative years — the Pennywises, Millencolins, and Bad Religions of the world — but written from the perspective of kids who never caught those acts in their sweaty‑basement prime. Packed with sly lyrical nods to punk classics, the song serves as both tribute and rallying cry: punk rock might’ve peaked before you were born, but the spirit’s still alive every time someone finds their place in the pit.

Musically, Skeetch lean hard into their skate‑punk DNA: lightning‑fast drums, palm‑muted riffs, and shout‑along hooks tailor‑made for chain‑link fence sing‑alongs. There’s a buoyancy here — the sunny side in the shitty town — that keeps the track from wallowing in nostalgia. Instead, it feels like a fist‑raised invitation: come for the memories, stay for the party.

The single sets the stage for Sunny Side of Shitty Town, Skeetch’s full‑length debut dropping August 22. The eleven‑song record promises a whirlwind of themes, from generational disillusionment (“Born 2 Late”) to social commentary (“Hello Mr. Officer”) and raw personal snapshots (“Spicy Memories”). It’s a record that refuses to choose between speed and sincerity, offering both in abundance.

Formed in late 2021, Skeetch grew up on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtracks and European skate parks, cutting their teeth with three EPs and relentless touring across the continent. Now, with their first LP on the horizon, the band are set to plant their flag in modern skate punk — defiantly loud, proudly melodic, and absolutely stoked.

“Born 2 Late” is streaming now; Sunny Side of Shitty Town is available for vinyl pre‑order through Punkerton Records.
