Berlin hardcore/crust band Zanjeer return with “Anti-Deutsch,” a reworked version of a Reagan Youth track, delivered in Urdu and released as a preview of their debut album Seher-e-Maqhoor, released April 3, 2026 via Neon Nile Records.
The single leans into a raw, high-speed hardcore framework, blending d-beat drive with crust grit and thrash pacing. Guitars cut sharply through the mix, while the rhythm section stays relentless and forward-moving. The arrangement is stripped down and forceful, keeping the focus on impact rather than variation.
Vocally, the use of Urdu adds a distinct layer to the track’s intensity. The delivery is direct and confrontational, matching the aggressive tone of the instrumentation. By shifting the language, Zanjeer reshape the original material into something that reflects their own perspective and context.
“Anti-Deutsch” also functions as a political statement, engaging with themes tied to ideology, identity, and global power structures. The band approach these ideas without abstraction, presenting them in a blunt and immediate way that aligns with hardcore’s tradition of direct expression.
The track premiered through DIY Conspiracy, where additional commentary from artists across the punk scene provided further context around its themes and reinterpretation.
Zanjeer formed in 2020 and have since built a reputation through intense live performances and a clear sonic identity. Their earlier EP Parcham Buland Ast established their direction, combining hardcore structure with elements of crust and metal. Since then, the band has continued to expand their reach, performing across Europe and gaining attention through both live shows and media coverage.
Their upcoming album Seher-e-Maqhoor builds on that foundation. Across the record, the band explore topics including immigration, exploitation, and global conflict, using a sound that remains fast, abrasive, and tightly controlled. The production stays raw, allowing the energy of the performances to come through without heavy processing.
“Anti-Deutsch” sets the tone for the full release, highlighting Zanjeer’s focus on speed, clarity, and intensity. With the album release and upcoming shows in Europe and the UK, the band continue to position themselves within a more uncompromising edge of modern hardcore.
