New Studio Album To Be Released in 2017

Austin quintet The Band of Heathens have announced new tour dates for fall 2016. In the course of evolving from loose assemblage to world-class rock ’n’ roll outfit, the Band of Heathens has built a potent body of recorded work that’s won the Austin, Texas ensemble a fiercely loyal fan base and a reputation as one of its hometown’s most vital musical resources. See below for a complete list of tour dates, which are now on sale as of today.

The Band of Heathens’ imposing reputation as a live act was reflected in their decision to launch their recording career with a pair of live albums, 2006’s Live From Momo’s and 2007’s CD/DVD Live at Antone’s. 2008 saw the release of the group's eponymous first studio album, produced by iconic Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard.  That release won widespread fan approval and copious critical acclaim, as did 2009's One Foot in the Ether, which, like its predecessor, reached the #1 slot on the national Americana charts. The group's third studio album Top Hat Crown and the Clapmaster's Son was released in 2011, followed by 2013's Sunday Morning Record.

Recent years have brought a series of new musical adventures for the Band of Heathens, including a 2014 stint as live backup band for old friend Hayes Carll, and a trip to Michigan to back up longtime admirer Kid Rock on his 2015 album First Kiss.

The Band of Heathens will release their fifth studio album in early 2017. The forthcoming record promises to push the groups' distinctive, roots-savvy songcraft into inspired new sonic territory, while extending the vibrant creative rapport that's been a constant throughout the the Band of Heathens' decade-plus as one of America's hardest-working grass-roots combos.

"It's kind of strange being ten years in and feeling like a new band, but it's also pretty cool," states Gordy Quist, guitarist/vocalist and co-founder of the band along with fellow songwriter Ed Jurdi. "The band is just killing it right now, and I don't think that we'd still be going if the band wasn't this good."

"It kind of feels like this band is a car that's in top condition right now," concludes Ed. "So it's gonna be fun to take it out on the highway again and see what it can do."
