A raw, grungy pop track that swells with intensity — gritty and melodic, playful but cutting. Rai, Shallow Honey’s vocalist, describes the meaning behind the song: "What You Made Me Do is a track about when you have been calmly expressing your feelings and frustrations to someone over a long period of time, yet have not been heard. After a while of repeating yourself and trying to meet them where they’re at with nothing back - you will snap! Like holding a beach ball under water - you can only push it down for so long. It feels good to let go - but it’s also really scary and sobering”.
Produced by Steven Ansell (Blood Red Shoes) Mastered by Katie Tavini, Weird Jungle and Recorded by Jake Stanton at Big Fig Studio. “WHAT YOU MADE ME DO” is accompanied by two previously unreleased tracks “Aim Low” and “Start the Ride”, recorded, mixed and mastered by Russell Plowman at SoundByte Studio in 2022.
“Aim Low” (b-side) a song about forever being underestimated and misunderstood. How staying well within the boundaries and perceptions carved out by friends, family and
acquaintances, can turn “playing the fool” into a shield, better yet, a superpower.
“Start the Ride” (b-side) as a band formed in the 2020 lockdown, this is our anthem. Having live music stripped away and replaced with gut wrenching uncertainty and pain - we dedicate this track to anyone who wished for just an ounce of connection and normality in such a wild time.
The music video captures the bold, playful energy of the track while embracing and paying homage to the band's 90s-inspired sound. Shot in striking black, white, and red, the video for WHAT YOU MADE ME DO brings the phrase "seeing red" to life, transforming it into a raw and gritty visual punch. Filmed, directed and edited by Dan Skelt.
Formed in early 2020, by guitarist Ben Siviter, bassist Carl Toppin and vocalist Rai Conway. Seb Philp joined on drums in late 2024. The band's notable achievements have included supporting The Subways to a sold out show in Northampton, featuring at LOUD WOMEN fest and joining Melita Dennett for a BBC Sussex Live lounge in 2023. Releasing their first EP "Lost Bodies" in 2024 and playing the phenomenal CorCroLand festival in 2025.
