Alt/indie rock band The Moss dropped their Free Ride EP—featuring the single “Oasis”—on October 3 via S-Curve Records, pairing sunlit melodies with emotional insight.

Alt/indie rock band The Moss are back with their latest project, the Free Ride EP, released October 3 via S-Curve Records. The four-song collection showcases the band’s signature mix of heartfelt lyricism and breezy, guitar-driven melodies, led by the standout single “Oasis.”

Frontman Tyke James describes “Oasis” as “a song about finding someone at a point in time who makes you feel seen. It’s about how necessary but fleeting it is to have someone to talk to.” That sense of openness and emotional clarity runs through the entire EP, marking another evolution in The Moss’s warm, reflective indie sound.

With over 75 million streams to date, The Moss have become one of the most talked-about rising acts in alt rock. Alternative Press recently named them a “Rising Artist To Watch,” and their energetic live shows have taken them to major festivals like BottleRock, Levitate, Ohana, and Paradies alongside artists such as Briston Maroney.

The Moss originated on the shores of Oahu, Hawaii, where childhood friends Tyke James (vocals, guitar) and Willie Fowler (drums) began making music together before expanding their sound with Tyler Harris (guitar). Drawing influence from artists like Pinegrove and Kevin Morby, The Moss craft songs that blend bright, organic textures with introspective songwriting.

Their new Free Ride EP continues that tradition, exploring themes of connection, change, and emotional honesty through shimmering guitar tones and hook-filled arrangements. It’s another confident step forward for a band steadily carving their own lane in the indie landscape.

Following the EP’s release, The Moss will embark on a six-week headline tour in spring 2026, kicking off April 2 in Seattle.
