Portland band DOOMBIA have released their new single, "¿Quién Soy Yo?," the third preview of their upcoming second album, El Diablo Que Conoces. The new track continues the group's distinctive mix of doom metal, psychedelic rock, and Latin cumbia while exploring themes of identity, faith, and personal responsibility.
Built around crushing guitar riffs and rhythmic cumbia grooves, "¿Quién Soy Yo?" moves between English and Spanish as it examines questions about self-discovery and accountability. The song captures the band's signature sound by blending heavy, slow-moving metal with energetic Latin rhythms, creating a style that encourages both headbanging and dancing.
DOOMBIA formed in Portland in 2023 after guitarist and vocalist Brendan Deiz discovered doom metal while teaching guitar. What started as a personal project has since grown into a full band featuring drummer Koby Haigerty, bassist Celeste Wright, and percussionist Nate Wright. Together, the group has toured the West Coast, earned several artist grants, and gained recognition in Portland's music scene for their unique approach to heavy music.
The upcoming album, El Diablo Que Conoces, was recorded with producer Justin Phelps, whose credits include work with Mars Volta and Dead Kennedys. The record was also mastered by Grammy Award winner Alan Douches, known for his work with bands including Mastodon and Converge.
Drawing inspiration from both Black Sabbath and Los Mirlos, DOOMBIA continues to build a bilingual sound that crosses musical and cultural boundaries. The band combines heavy riffs with psychedelic textures and traditional Latin rhythms, creating music that welcomes listeners from different backgrounds while staying rooted in the intensity of doom metal.
"¿Quién Soy Yo?" gives fans another look at the direction of El Diablo Que Conoces, which is expected to expand on the band's blend of heavy music and Latin influences. With the single now available on streaming platforms, DOOMBIA continues building momentum ahead of the release of its second full-length album later this year.
