On his latest effort, Jeffrey Lewis pays homage to the legendary 70's anarchist Brit punk band, Crass. At first listen, it seems as though Lewis' quirky, acoustic versions of abrasive, noisy anarchy punk would not translate well. However, classic Crass songs such as "Banned from The Roxy" and "Do They Owe Us a Living" come across with renewed urgency guided by Lewis' folksy strumming and narrative.

Crass' abrasive music was a collective middle-finger to the music, class and religious establishments of the British 70's ヨ just what that decade needed. While Lewis' approach is much less shock and awe, his interpretation is a testament that strong political messages, convictions and calls to action can come across in a scream or a whisper. However conveyed, Lewis reworked these 12 Crass Songs into something to believe in, something to call everyone to action. So ask yourself, "Do they owe us a living? Of course they fucking do!"
