Mile-high rocker Micah Morris has spent years carving his name into the international punk rock and roll scene. Growing up in a family of musicians rooted in Austin, Texas, Morris first began his journey playing punk music in the mountains of Colorado. From busking on Denver’s 16th Street Mall to fronting his first band Six Shooter, and later joining the high-energy group Fast Eddy, Morris has built a career defined by grit, melody, and persistence.
His songwriting already carries global recognition. Fast Eddy’s 2022 single “Take a Look” was named the “Coolest Song in the World” by Little Steven’s Underground Garage on Sirius XM—an honor that helped solidify Morris’s standing as one of punk’s most exciting modern voices.
Music runs deep in Morris’s family line. He’s the second cousin of Michael Nesmith from The Monkees, and his father Gene Morris played alongside Austin icons like Christopher Cross, Eric Johnson, and members of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Double Trouble. His mother, Anne Norman, also worked in music, serving as a production assistant for Carole King during her late-1970s recording era. With that kind of background, it’s no surprise that Morris continues to shape his own sound with both heritage and edge.
Now performing under the name Micah and the Mirrors, Morris has unveiled “Tortilla Soup,” the first single from his upcoming solo record. The track was recorded in Atlanta, Georgia, with Dan Dixon—known for work with the Doobie Brothers, Zac Brown, Ravagers, K. Michelle Doubois, and The Queers—handling engineering, while production was led by Randy Michael. Every song on the record was written by Morris himself.
With “Tortilla Soup” serving as a bold first taste, Micah and the Mirrors marks a new era for Morris—one that reflects his long road through punk rock while pointing toward an inventive future as a solo artist ready to keep pushing boundaries.
