Album Review
Face to Face
Reviewed by Dodge M.
Face To Face bang out ten of their personal favorites on their latest covers album, and in the process pay tribute to the bands and particular songs which inspired them. While one might expect an album filled with punk rock standards, their selection may surprise you. Their choices include INXS' "Don't Change", and "Heaven" by the Psychedelic Furs. But the album isn't short of punk classics. They pay tribute to the Ramones with "The KKK Took My Baby Away" and Fugazi's "Merchandise". Regardless of the selection, all the songs breathe new life. For the most part, performances are straightforward renditions, and each song's identity remains in tact. Yet, the sound is unmistakable, offering a musical treat for FTF faithful. If you don't care about a song they've chosen, this album may have you thinking twice. Who knows...you may even start buying INXS CD's? But don't worry, we won't tell anyone.
