The always-experimental and wild Mr. Bungle mark their return to the music arena with their scathing and frenzied cover of The Exploited’s class track “USA.”
Mr. Bungle are also releasing a limited edition shirt with the single, with all proceeds going to the MusicCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Their spin on “USA” is the Bay Area band’s first recorded music since 1999 and they rip it to shreds, exploding with ferocious fervor on the socio-econo-politically on-target track.
“They keep their secrets undercover / The rich don't bother about those that suffer / This ain't the land of milk and honey / ‘cause all they want is money money money” - The Exploited
While there are rich philanthropists/benefactors who are trying to make the world a better place for all of us, they are few in number compared to the many who are self-serving, corrupt, and/or uncaring.
Ipecac Recordings co-owner Greg Werckman states, “Over 100,000 US citizens are dead from the pandemic… Racism continues to rear its ugly head. Police brutality spikes, unemployment spikes, depression spikes - and ‘our’ ego-driven elected officials don’t seem to care. We need to do a better job of looking out for each other. MusiCares looks after all of us in the music community.”
This iteration of Mr. Bungle consists of Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton, Trey Spruance, Scott Ian, and Dave Lombardo.
